Sew Like a Pro with Sutura Style

The Sutura Style program was first developed for classes at Hancock Fabrics in the Indianapolis area in 2011. Today, thousands of people have learned tips, tricks, and techniques using these methods via in-person or online classes. Tried and tested skills from the Fashion Industry, adjusted for the home sewing environment, are taught. Learn to create fashions for yourself and others with Sutura Style Courses. From your first project to your finest creations, the Sutura Style sewing methods will help you every stitch of the way.

There are four projects in the Sutura Style Novice Sewing Course. These projects deliver all the necessary learning outcomes and set-up students for success. These four projects include:

  1. The Sutura Style Sewing Machine Organizer,

  2. The Perfect Pincushion,

  3. Sweetheart Scissor and Shears Covers, and

  4. The Sutura Style Sewing Tote.

The supplies list can be found on the Student Resources Page. Before you start sewing, however, it is a good idea to plan. In the photograph, a set of coordinating fabrics is shown.  Choosing your project fabrics is fun! Be sure to select colors that you truly love so you can enjoy them for years to come. For the Novice Sewing Course, 4 yards of quilting cotton fabric is needed.

  • 1 yard of eye-catching printed cotton quilting fabric, also called a "Focal Fabric",

  • 2 yards of solid color or blender cotton quilting fabric for samples and projects, and

  • 1 yard of coordinating fabric.

Students will also need notions, interfacing, and supplies as outlined in the project pattern. The pattern cutting instructions are available from our Etsy store.
