What does Sutura Mean?
We get asked all the time! Sutura is Latin for sewing and at Sutura Fabrics, that is what we are all about.
Sutura Style started in 2011 as an online magazine-newsletter. The name is a blend of the Latin word "Sutura" which means "sewing" and the English word Style. This represents both the traditional art of sewing and the modern approach of the company.
After I had been sending out the magazine for about a year, I was approached by Joyce Miller, the Store Manager of Hancock Fabrics Carmel, IN to teach sewing classes. I taught students sewing classes, basic serger classes, and pant fitting classes until the Fall of 2015. Designer Sewing Center, my first small sewing shop opened at Whitestown, Indiana in December of the same year.
Fast forward to 2017 when the opportunity came to move to a bigger city. Our new home is in Memphis, Tennessee where over 700 sewists have joined our 2 sewing groups, allowing me the honor of passing on the art of sewing, quilting, and machine embroidery to a new group of passionate makers.

Fabrics and notions are sold through our Etsy Shop. We are working hard to get all the notions, patterns, fabrics, and kits loaded.
